The author studies the Schrödinger-Poisson system \[ \begin{cases} -\Delta u+V(x)u+\lambda\varphi(x)u= K(x)f(u),\quad x\in{\mathbb R}^3, \\ -\Delta\varphi=u^2, \lim\limits_{|x|\to\infty} \varphi(x)=0, \end{cases} \] where \(\lambda > 0\) is a parameter, the potential \(V(x)\) is continuous, radial and may be vanishing at infinity, \(f(s)\) is asymptotically linear at infinity. \(K\) is a positive continuous, radial function. Under some assumptions on \(V(x), K(x)\) and \(f(s)\), it is proved that the Schrödinger-Poisson system has a positive solution for \(\lambda\) small and has no nontrivial solution for \(\lambda\) large.
