The paper deals with the numerical solution of the 1D-nonlinear Schrödinger equation with the aid of the finite difference method. The author presents the method and derives the convergence and error estimates results. He proves that the error in the maximum norm is of second order with respect to space as well as to time steps. Finally, numerical examples demonstrating the the order of convergence and a collision of two traveling waves are presented.
