In the first part of this excellently written paper the authors introduce the notion of \(\delta\)-invariant for curvature-like tensor fields and develop general inequalities if these fields satisfy some algebraic Gauss-equation. In the second part they apply these results to definite centroaffine hypersurfaces in \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\). The inequality is specified to an inequality involving the affine \(\delta\)-invariants and the Chebyshev vector field. Furthermore, the authors show that if a centroaffine hypersurface satisfies the equality case of one of the inequalities, then it is a proper affine hypersphere. From the geometrical view-point the following two theorems are very attractive: 1) Let \(M\) be a positive definite centroaffine hypersurface in \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\), \(n\geq 3\), satisfying the equality case for some \(k\)-tuple \((n_1,\dots, n_k)\in S(n)\). If \(\dim(\text{Im\,}K)\) is constant on \(M\), then \(M\) is foliated by \(q\)-dimensional ellipsoids centered at the origin of \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\), where \(q= n-\dim(\text{Im\,}K)\). 2) Let \(M\) be a negative definite centroaffine hypersuface in \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\), \(n\geq 3\), satisfying the equality case for some \(k\)-tuple \((n_1,\dots,n_k)\in S(n)\). If \(\dim(\text{Im\,}K)\) is constant on \(M\), then \(M\) is foliated by \(q\)-dimensional two-sheeted hyperboloids centered at the origin, where \(q=n-\dim(\text{Im\,}K)\).
