Let \(K\) and \(L\) be compact spaces. Given a continuous surjection \(\varphi:K\to L\) and a real function \(g\) on \(L\), put \(f=g\circ \varphi\). The author proves that \(f\) is Borel iff so is \(g\) and announces a generalization to perfect maps which will appear elsewhere. A few applications to affine functions are revealed in the framework of Choquet theory.
