For a smooth 4-manifold with complex and symplectic structures there exist two important notions, the complex Kodaira dimension \(\kappa^h\) equals the symplectic Kodaira dimension \(\kappa^s\). The latter was studied by \textit{T.-J. Li} [J. Differ. Geom. 74, No.~2, 321--352 (2006; Zbl 1105.53068)]. The paper under review shows that both are equal, i.e., \(\kappa^h=\kappa^s\). In addition, the Kodaira dimension for many Lefschetz fibrations are also computed.
