The authors propose fast computation methods toward computing the sparse wavelet coefficients with prescribed index in time frequency plane. By designing a tree-like structure for this index set, they develop fast computation methods and give a detailed error analysis. The methods concern many practical cases in applications, which also meet the needs of recent adaptive wavelet concepts.
