The author proposes a generalization of the Artin-Hasse exponential, a function of the form \[ E_n(x)=\exp \left( \frac{\alpha_0}{p^n}x^{p^n}+\frac{\alpha_1}{p^{n-1}}x^{p^{n-1}}+\cdots +\alpha_n x\right) \] where the coefficients \(\alpha_j\) belong to an algebraic closure of an unramified extension \(T\) of \(\mathbb Q_p\), and the extensions \(K_n/T\), \(K_n=T(\alpha_0,\ldots ,\alpha_n)\) are totally ramified. The series for \(E_n\) converges in the disk \(D^-(0,1)\), and \(E_n\in 1+x\mathfrak O_{K_n}[[x]]\). The above exponentials are used by \textit{A. Pulita} [Math. Ann. 337, No. 3, 489--555 (2007; Zbl 1125.12001)] in the classification of rank one \(p\)-adic differential equations. A special case of \(E_n\) was found earlier by \textit{S. Matsuda} [Duke Math. J. 77, No. 3, 607--625 (1995; Zbl 0849.12013)].
