    Let \(\Omega \subset {\mathbb{R}}^ N\) (N\(\geq 2)\) be a domain with smooth boundary, \(u_ 0\in C^ 1({\bar \Omega})\cap C_ 0({\bar \Omega})\), \(f\in C^ 2(0,\infty)\cap C[0,\infty)\), \(u_ 0\geq 0\), \(f>0\) on (0,\(\infty)\) and let us consider the problem: \[ (E)\quad u_ t=\Delta u+f(u)\text{ in } (0,T)\times \Omega,\quad u=0\text{ on } (0,T)\times \partial \Omega,\quad u(0,.)=u_ 0\text{ on } {\bar \Omega}. \] The authors investigate the blow-up for (E) under the condition on f introduced by \textit{A. Friedman} and \textit{B. McLeod} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 34, 425-447 (1985; Zbl 0576.35068)] and the condition on \(\Omega\) introduced by \textit{B. Gidas}, \textit{W.-M. Ni} and \textit{L. Nirenberg} [Commun. Math. Phys. 68, 209-243 (1979; Zbl 0425.35020)].
