This paper deals with a discontinuous Galerkin method which is applied to the time-domain Maxwell equations. In such a way it is studied both the way to reduce spurious modes and the means to increase accuracy by introduction a penalization of the fluxes by dissipative terms. Next, the authors develop a multi-class local time-stepping strategy adapted to the leap-frog time scheme classically used for Maxwell's equations. Some numerical validations are provided, in particular the possibility of using this local time-stepping method on cavity problems is emphasized.
