The authors compute the analytic torsion of cones over spheres of dimensions 1, 2, and 3. They also conjecture a general formula for the analytic torsion of a cone over an odd-dimensional sphere. This was confirmed and generalized in their subsequent work; see, e.g., [J. Geom. Phys. 61, No.~3, 624--657 (2011; Zbl 1222.58027)].
