In this paper it is studied the questions of existence, nonexistence and multiplicity of positive solutions for the following class of anisotropic quasilinear elliptic problems: \[ -\sum^N_{i=1}\partial_i(|\partial_i u(x)|^{p_i-2}\partial_iu(x))=\lambda|u(x)|^{q-2}u(x), \quad x\in\Omega, \] \[ u(x)=0, \quad x\in\partial\Omega. \] Using variational structure of this proplem the authors prove that for sufficiently small \(\lambda\) the problem doesn't possess any nontrivial solution and for sufficiently large \(\lambda\) there are exists at least one nonnegative weak solution. Besides it is showed that the trivial solution is always a local minimum of the corresponding functional, so one can apply mountain pass theorem between the two minima found in order to prove the existence of another solution of the problem under consideration.
