The paper deals with the Mach zero limit of the Euler equations of a compressible fluid flow. This results in a hyperbolic-parabolic equation which can be rewritten as an abstract differential algebraic equation. It turns out that the perturbation index is one in time and two in space. Using the theory of abstract differential algebraic systems, the authors derive an existence and uniqueness result in appropiate function spaces. Moreover, stability estimates are given for the solution. These estimates agree quite well with numerical experiments even for slightly perturbed nonlinear variants of the original equation.
