Let \(X\) be a \(K3\) surface defined over a finite field \(K\). A \(K3\)-surface \(Z/\mathbb C\) is called a \textit{quasi-canocial lift} of \(X\) if there exists a discrete valuation ring \(R\subset \mathbb C\) with residue field \(K\) and a \(K3\)-surface \(Y/R\), such that \(Y_{\mathbb C}\cong Z\), \(Y_K\cong X\), there exists a lift \(\sigma\) of geometric Frobenius to \(\mathrm{End}(H^2(Y_\mathbb C,\mathbb Q))\) respecting the Hodge structure and the natural injection \(\mathrm{NS}(Z)_{\mathbb Q}\to \mathrm{NS}(X_{\overline{K}})_{\mathbb Q}\) is surjective. The authors show that if \(X\) is a \(K3\) surface of finite height then for any quasi-canonical lifting \(Z\) the endomorphism algebra of the transcendental lattice is, considered as a Hodge module, a CM field. The authors provide several examples.
