Let \(M\) be a compact hypersurface of a hypersphere \(S^{n+1}\) in the Euclidean space \(R^{n+2}\). In this paper the author proves among others the following results: (1) If \(M\) is of finite 2-type and satisfies a moreover condition, then \(M\) is mass-symmetric. (2) If \(M\) has constant mean curvature in \(S^{n+1}\), then \(M\) cannot be of finite 3-type. More general results have been proved in the case of finite 2-type hypersurfaces, by the reviewer and \textit{Th. Vlachos} [J. Geom. 40, No. 1/2, 82-94 (1991; Zbl 0726.53038)].
