The authors show that the potential \(q_ B\) recovered from the linearization of the scattering amplitude \(A\) (at a fixed energy \(k\)) around \(q=0\) (the Born approximation) has essentially the same singularities as the genuine potential \(q\in L_ \delta^ p\), \(1\leq p\leq\infty\). Here \(L_ \delta^ p\) is a weighted space. In particular, singularities of \(q\) are uniquely determined by \(A\). Technical means is potential theory in Besov spaces. We observe that for \(q\in L^ \infty\) uniqueness of singularities from \(A\) was proven by \textit{Z. Sun} and \textit{G. Uhlmann} [Commun. Math. Phys. 153, No. 3, 431-445 (1993; Zbl 0795.35142)]. Recently, the reviewer and \textit{A. Nachman} [Global uniqueness for a two-dimensional semilinear elliptic inverse problem, preprint (1994)] found that \(A\) uniquely determines \(q\in L^ p\), \(1<p\), when \(k\) is not large.
