The authors investigate traveling waves for distributed gas-solid reactions with a power-law reaction rate, which leads to a pair of singularly perturbed ordinary differential equations for \(u(.)\) and \(w(.)\): \(u''+ \varepsilon vu'= u^ \alpha_ + w^ \beta_ +\), \(vw'= u^ \alpha_ + w^ \beta_ +\). The phase-plane methods are applied, several cases are investigated, and provide estimates for the location of fronts and analyze their local behavior. It extends the work of Bobisud who studies similar equations in a different context and on a semi- infinite interval.
