The paper deals with front solutions of the Swift-Hohenberg equation \[ \partial _t u= -(1 + \partial ^2 _x)^2u + \varepsilon u-u^3. \] These are traveling waves which leave in their wake a periodic pattern in the laboratory frame. Using renormalization techniques and a decomposition into Bloch waves, the authors show the nonlinear stability of these solutions. The paper consists of 7 sections. In Section 1 the statement of the simplified problem is given. The model equation is considered in Section 2. The linear simplified problem is considered in Section 3. The renormalization approach to the simplified problem is presented in Section 4. The Swift-Hohenberg equation is investigated in Section 5. Bloch's waves are considered in Section 6. Section 7 deals with the renormalization approach to the full problem.
