The aim of this paper is to obtain, by means of the method of separation of variables, the solution of the non-Fourier hyperbolic-type heat conduction equation \((*)\) \(\theta_{\beta\beta}- \theta_{\delta\delta}+ 2\theta_\beta= 0\), \(\theta= \theta(\beta, \delta)\) with the initial and boundary conditions: \(\theta(0,\delta)= 1\), \(\theta_\beta(0, \delta_0)= 0\), \(\theta(\beta,\pm x_0(2\tau C)^{-1})= 0\), where \(|\delta_0|< x_0(2\tau C)^{-1}\), \(\beta>0\), \(\tau\) denotes the relaxation time which is established to be \(\tau= \alpha C^{-2}\), \(C\) is the speed of the thermal shock wave, \(\alpha\) represents the termal diffusitivity of the medium, and \(2x_0\) is a thickness.
