The paper deals with the problem of construction of free-form curves based on a given data for approximation and a boundary value problem for an ordinary differential equation (ODE) [cf. \textit{M. I. G. Bloor} and \textit{H. Hagen}, Comput. Aided Geom. Design 12, 381--394 (1995; Zbl 0875.68933)]. Thus the ODE curve is defined and characterized. Discrete ODE curves are then introduced by studying the associated discrete problems in a space of splines. The solution of this discrete problems is computed and a few examples are given as illustrations.
