Let \(A\) be a \(d\times d\) real expansive matrix, i.e., a matrix whose eigenvalues are all of modulus greater than 1. Then a function \(\psi \in L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)\) is an \(A\)-\textit{dilation wavelet} if the system \(|\text{det} A|^{n/2} \psi (A^n x - l)\), \(n\in \mathbb{Z}\), \(l\in \mathbb{Z}^d\), forms an orthonormal basis for \(L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)\). If, in addition, \(\psi\) is associated with an \(A\)-dilation (frame) multiresolution analysis (MRA), then it is called an \(A\)-\textit{dilation (frame) MRA wavelet}. A frame MRA differs from an MRA by the requirement that the translates of the scaling functions only have to form a normalized frame and not an orthonormal basis for the scaling space. While for expansive matrices \(A\) with integer entries \(A\)-dilation MRA wavelets exist if and only if \(|\text{det} A |=2\), the authors show that \(A\)-dilation frame MRA wavelets always exist. They prove a similar result for real diagonal \(A\) with diagonal elements greater or equal than \(2\) in modulus. Further examples are presented.
