This paper is concerned with quasi-periodic self-excited travelling wave solutions for a two dimensional damped beam equation \[ \begin{cases} \partial^2_tu(t,x)+\gamma\Delta^2u(t,x)+\alpha\partial_tu(t,x)+\beta\partial_t\Delta^2u(t,x)+mu(t,x) =(\partial_tu(t,x))^p,\\ x\in \mathbb{T}^2,\end{cases} \] where \(\mathbb{T}:=\mathbb{R}^2/2\pi\mathbb{Z}^2\), is the two dimensional torus, corresponding to periodic boundary conditions, and \(x=(x_1,x_2)\). The parameters \(\gamma\) and \(m\) are positive, \(\beta\) and \(\alpha\) are coefficients of friction, and \(p>1\) is an odd integer. This equation is a dissipative system without forcing term, which can be derived from a two dimensional beam equation with a delayed linear restoring feedback. The author focused on the quasi-periodic travelling wave solutions. When the friction coefficients vanish, a finite dimensional centre manifold does not exist, and hence, the centre manifold reduction and averaging theory cannot be applied. By using Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction and Fourier series, the author obtained a two parameter family of small amplitude quasi-periodic travelling wave solutions \(u(t,x_1,x_2)=\varphi(\omega_1t+x_1, \omega_2t+x_2)\) when \((\alpha, \beta)\thickapprox 0\). More precisely, the system admits travelling wave solutions of the form \(u(\rho_1,\rho_2)(t,x_1,x_2)=\varphi(\rho_1,\rho_2)(\omega_1t+x_1, \omega_2t+x_2)\), where \((\rho_1,\rho_2)\) are amplitudes. These solutions branch off of rotating wave solutions, in the sense that setting one of the amplitudes to zero, gives a one parameter family of rotating wave solutions. Furthermore, the author gave the ``directions of bifurcation''.
