The main result of the paper under review gives a classification of blocks of finite groups with TI defect groups, up to Morita equivalence: Either the defect groups of such a block are cyclic or generalized quaternion, or the block is Morita equivalent to a block in an explicit list of examples. The groups in this list are all central extensions of groups of automorphisms of finite non-Abelian simple groups. The proof is based on the classification of finite simple groups. As an application, the authors show that Donovan's conjecture holds for blocks with TI defect groups.
