The additive Schwarz preconditioner for finite element discretizations of a second order elliptic two-point boundary value problem by Hermite cubic splines is studied. By a straightforward approach, it is proved that the condition number of the preconditioned system is uniformly bounded with respect to the mesh size. A numerical example supports the analytical result.
