This paper is concerned with the Omega operator which was introduced by MacMahon in his work on partition analysis. This operator has recently been studied by \textit{G. E. Andrews}, \textit{P. Paule} and \textit{A. Riese} [see e.g. Eur. J. Comb. 22, 887--904 (2001; Zbl 0979.05008)]. A new expression for the Omega operator is presented, in terms of Schur functions, and this is related to a recent expression in terms of the Lagrange operator [see \textit{G.-N. Han}, Ann. Comb. 7, 467--480 (2003; Zbl 1036.05005)].
