In the article a relationship between differential geometric cohomology on the compact hyperbolic manifold and algebraic invariants of the acting group is studied. In spite of the growing interest in BGG-complexes, there are few works on the geometric meaning of cohomology for parabolic geometry. In particular, this paper indicates a new direction of research in overdetermined systems of PDEs and their connection with projective geometry. The authors propose a reasoning scheme, which can be transferred to locally symmetric spaces. The main result of the article states that the cohomology of the projective BGG-complex is related to the cohomology of the acting group, which allows the authors to give their geometric interpretation for the first time. In the last paragraph the authors give a new proof of some non-vanishing theorem using their tractor-theoretic methods.
