Suppose \(\Omega_1\) and \(\Omega_2\) are complex domains and \(\Phi:\Omega_1\to\Omega_2\) is a surjective monomial map. It is shown that the Bergman space \(A^2(\Omega_1)\) admits an orthogonal decomposition into finitely many closed subspaces indexed by the characters of a certain abelian group associated to \(\Phi\). It is further shown that each such subspace of \(A^2(\Omega_1)\) is isomorphic to a weighted Bergman space of \(\Omega_2\). Consequently, the Bergman kernel of \(\Omega_1\) is a sum of weighted Bergman kernels of \(\Omega_2\).
