This paper studies the concept of Krylov solvability for inverse problems for the first time in cases where the operator by which the problem is defined is potentially unbounded. The presentation progresses towards higher and higher generality -- covering firstly the already-known bounded case, then cases where the operator is self-adjoint and finally the most general one where the operator is assumed to be just densely defined and closed -- uncovering surprising new phenomena along the way, such as `Krylov escape'.
