A Kähler metric \(\omega\) on a Kähler manifold \(X\) is a Kähler-Einstein metric if the Ricci curvature satisfies \[ \mathrm{Ric}(\omega)=\lambda\omega, \quad \lambda \in \{-1,0,1\}. \] Aubin and Yau's theorem of the Calabi conjecture asserts that if the first Chern class \(c_1(X)\) is negative (canonically polarized manifold), there is a unique Kähler-Einstein metric \(\omega\in - c_1(X)\) of \(\lambda=-1\). This paper studies the hybrid limit (in the sense of Boucksom-Jonsson) of the family of Kähler-Einstein volume forms on a degeneration of canonically polarized manifolds. Let \(X\rightarrow \Delta\) be a family of projective varieties over the disc \(\Delta=\{t\in\mathbb{C}| |t|<1\}\) such that any generic fibre \(X_t\), \(t\in \Delta\backslash\{0\}\), is a smooth canonically polarized manifold. We assume that the central fibre \(X_0\) has only normal crossing singularity by the semi-stable reduction. For any \(t\neq 0\), let \(\omega_t\) be the unique Kähler-Einstein metric of negative Ricci curvature on \(X_t\). The limiting behaviour of \(\omega_t\), when \(t\rightarrow 0\), was studied by many authors under various circumstances, for example \textit{G. Tian} [Proc. Symp. Pure Math. 54, 595--609 (1993; Zbl 0798.53024)]. The hybrid space \(X^{hyb}\rightarrow\Delta\) is a locally compact topological space obtained by replacing the central fibre \(X_0\) of \(X\rightarrow\Delta\) by the non-Archimedean Berkovich space \(X^{an}\). The notion of hybrid spaces, whose construction goes back in spirit to Berkovich, was defined in [\textit{S. Boucksom} and \textit{M. Jonsson}, J. Éc. Polytech., Math. 4, 87--139 (2017; Zbl 1401.32019)] and provides a natural way to study degenerations of measures, or Kähler metrics, on a degeneration of complex manifolds. This article studies the limit of the volume measure \( \omega_t^n\) of Kähler-Einstein metric with negative Ricci curvature, which generalises the Boucksom-Jonsson's work in the Calabi-Yau case. More precisely, the main theorem shows that the Kähler-Einstein volume measure \( \omega_t^n\) converges weakly on \(X^{hyb}\) to a finite sum \(\mu_0\) of Dirac masses supported at the divisorial valuations \(v_{D_i}\) corresponding to the irreducible components \(D_i\) of the central fibre of the canonical model \(\mathcal{X}_c\) of \(X\) in the sense of the Minimal Model Program, where \[ \mu_0 = \sum_i ((K_{\mathcal{X}_c})^n\cdot D_i)\delta_{v_i}, \] and \( \mu_0\) is the non-Archimedean Monge-Ampère measure associated to the model metric induced by the canonical line bundle \(K_{\mathcal{X}_c}\) on \(\mathcal{X}_c\).
