Metrics of Eguchi-Hanson types with the negative constant scalar curvature (Q2223746): Difference between revisions

The classical Eguchi-Hanson metric is a Ricci flat, self-dual and asymptotically locally Euclidian Riemannian metric. Since its Ricci tensor vanishes, the Eguchi-Hanson metric is a solution to the vacuum Einstein equations with zero cosmological constant; it is an example of gravitational instanton. The authors consider a generalization of this metric, with non-vanishing Ricci tensor, and construct two types of Eguchi-Hanson metrics with negative scalar curvature, which they classify into type I and type II. The type I metrics have natural Kähler structure. The authors prove that they cannot be extended to metrics of the 5-dimensional spherically symmetric, static vacuum Einstein spacetimes with negative cosmological constant. The type II metrics are not Kähler, but they are asymptotically locally hyperbolic. The authors compute the total energy of these metrics and show that it can be negative for some parameters. The type II metrics can be extended as the Clarkson-Mann's metrics to the 5-dimensional spherically symmetric, static vacuum Einstein spacetimes with negative cosmological constant.
