Let \(M\) be a smooth closed manifold with smooth action by the projective special linear group \(\mathrm{PSL}(2,q)\). And suppose that \(q\) is either a power of 2, or an odd power of a prime congruent to \(\pm 3\) modulo \(8\). Using sequences of blow-ups along fixed point sets, the authors show that \(M\) has a strongly algebraic model. That is, \(M\) is equivariantly diffeomorphic to a nonsingular real algebraic \(\mathrm{PSL}(2,q)\)-variety \(X\), and up to isomorphism, all \(\mathrm{PSL}(2,q)\)-vector bundles over \(X\) are classified by entire rational equivariant maps.
