The author presents several sufficient conditions for $M$-affine (continuous) functions corresponding to a (strict continuous) mean $M$ to be affine functions. The author explores the validity of the inclusion $\mathrm{AC}(M;I)\subseteq \mathrm{Aff}(I)$ for means possessing simple functional weights. Functional weights depending on a unique variable are studied in Section 2, where a two-variable version of the equation \[f(M (x_1,\dots,x_n))= M (f (x_1),\dots,f (x_n)),\ x_1,\dots,x_n \in I,\] for the class $\mathrm{A}(M;I)$ of the $M$-affine functions is solved using the method of differentiation. Symmetric functional weights are considered in Section 3 by employing tools from the theory of means. The way to apply the results obtained for two-variable means to $n$-variable means is explained in the final Section 3. Several examples are included in each section.
