The paper deals with the uncertain neutral time-delay system \[ \dot x(t)-C \dot x(t-\tau(t))= (A+\Delta A(t)) x(t)+ (A_1+\Delta A_1(t)) x(t-h(t)), \] \[ x(s)=\varphi(s),\quad s\in [-\max(h_U,\tau_U),0], \] where \(x(t)\in \mathbb{R}^n\) is the state, and \(A\), \(A_1\), and \(C\) are known real parameter matrices of appropriate dimension. The delays \(h(t)\) and \(\tau(t)\) are time-varying continuous functions that satisfy \(0\leq h_L\leq h(t)\leq h_U\), \(\dot h(t)\leq h_D\), \(0\leq \tau(t)\leq\tau_U\), \(\dot\tau(t)\leq\tau_D<1\,.\) The initial condition vector function \(\varphi\) is continuous. The parameter uncertainties \(\Delta A(t)\) and \(\Delta A_1(t)\) are assumed to be of the form \([\Delta A(t),\,\Delta A_1(t)]=D F(t)\, [E,\,E_1]\), where \(D\), \(E\) and \(E_1\) are known real constant matrices of appropriate dimensions, and \(F(t)\) is an unknown matrix function, which satisfies \(F^T(t) F(t)\leq I\). On the base of the Lyapunov technique, a delay dependent criterion for asymptotic stability is established, which says that for given scalar values \(h_L\), \(h_U\), \(\mu\) and \(\tau_D\), the considered system is asymptotically stable if the spectral radius of the matrix \(C\) is less than \(1\) and a certain symmetric matrix satisfies a linear matrix equation. For the concrete form of the linear matrix equation one should refer to the paper, because it is not possible to describe it in one or two lines. Nevertheless, the obtained criterion works when concrete equations are treated numerically, and, as it is shown in the paper in some examples, gives better results than other known criteria.
