Minimal algebras and 2-step nilpotent Lie algebras in dimension 7 (Q2391855): Difference between revisions

Classification of \(2\)-step nilpotent Lie algebras over the fields \(\mathbb C\) and \(\mathbb R\) has been extensively studied in the literature. In this paper, the author studies the classification of \(2\)-step nilpotent Lie algebras over arbitrary fields whose characteristic is different from two. The main result gives the number of isomorphism classes of minimal algebras of dimension \(7\) and length \(2\), generated in degree \(1\) over a field of characteristic different from two. There is a correspondence between minimal algebras generated in degree \(1\) and nilpotent Lie algebras. Through this correspondence the algebraic classification is related to the classification of real homotopy types of \(7\)-dimensional \(2\)-step nilmanifolds.
