The authors consider the equation \[ u_t = \Delta (A(u)) + \operatorname{div}(b(u) \] where \(A(u) = \int_0^u a(s)ds\) with \(a(s) \geq 0\) and \(b\) regular enough. This equation is a prototype model for the stationary boundary layer theory and was proposed as a reaction-diffusion model for describing the propagation of running nerve pulses. By proposing a new partial boundary value condition and constructing special test functions, the Authors prove the stability of the solutions by means of the Kruzkov bi-variables method. Moreover the authors show the following interesting result, i.e. if there is an interaction between the diffusion term and the convection term, the stability can be established without any boundary value condition.
