The authors consider the obstruction theory for existence of a connection \(\nabla\) on a module \(M\) over a commutative ring \(A\). There is a cohomology class \(a(M)\in \text{Ext}^1_A(M,M\otimes \Omega^1_A)\) -- the Atiyah-class -- which is zero if and only if \(M\) has a connection \(\nabla\). The authors consider computer algorithms for explicit calculations of the groups \(\text{Ext}^1_A(M,M\otimes \Omega^1_A)\) for MCM-modules on simple hypersurface singularities and prove that in some cases such modules have a connection.
