    A. K. Kwaśniewski (2003) introduced the notion of duality triads [see also the author, Adv. Stud. Contemp. Math., Kyungshang 12, No. 1, 101--110 (2006; Zbl 1102.11010)]. Here it is shown that duality triads of higher rank [see the author, Cent. Eur. J. Math. 4, No. 2, 304--318 (2006; Zbl 1099.05008)] are closely related to orthogonal matrix polynomials on the real line. Furthermore, some examples of duality triads of higher rank are discussed. In particular, it is shown that the generalized Stirling numbers of rank \(r\) give rise to a duality triad of rank \(r\).
