The zero-range process is a model for a gas of mutually interacting particles on a finite or infinite lattice (or graph). After some preliminaries to introduce the corresponding model, one derives the stationary distribution in the case of symmetric random media. One examines successively strong disorder and the properties of the fugacity distribution. Then one studies the motion of a tagged particle in a boundary driven gas which has reached its steady state firstly in fixed environment, and secondly in random environment. The expectations oof integrated functions of the tagged particle are computed in various types of travels.
