Some exact statements for the dimension of two-dimensional spline spaces are provided for so-called unconstricted triangulations. The essential assumption which admits these dimension formulae is that of unconstrictedness, constricted meaning that all boundary vertices of the two-dimensional triangulation have valence at least four.
