Cosine operator theory and first order reductions were introduced to consider second order abstract Cauchy problems. However, time-dependent boundary conditions also appear in several situations. In this original and interesting paper, the author studies this case by means of operator matrices. He shows that such problems are well-posed if and only if some perturbations of the same problems with time-independent boundary conditions are well-posed. As applications, he considers two particular wave equations, one in \(L^p(0,1)\) (equipped with dynamical conditions) and another in \(L^2(\Omega)\) with acoustic-like boundary conditions.
