The authors focus on nonlinear functional differential equations with delay and study global existence or finite time blow-up. In particular, they study the blow-up of the equation \[ y'(t)= |y(t)|^p- |y(t- r)|^q,\;t> 0,\quad y(\tau)= \varphi(\tau),\;\tau\in [-r,0], \] where \(p,q> 0\) and \(\varphi\) continuous on \([-r,0]\), in terms of \(p\), \(q\) and \(\varphi\).
