The following theorem and corollary are given: Theorem: Let \(M\) be a compact minimal surface in \(S^4\) with Gaussian curvature K with respect to the induced metric \(ds^2\). Assume that the metric \(d\sigma^2=(1-K)^{1\over m}ds^2\) is flat at points where \(K<1\), where \(m\) is an integer satisfying \(m>2\). Then \(M\) is the Clifford minimal torus in a totally geodesic \(S^3\). Corollary: Let \(M\) be a compact minimal surface in \(S^4\) with Gaussian curvature K with respect to the induced metric \(ds^2\). Assume that the metric \(d\sigma^2=(1-K)^{1\over m}ds^2\) is flat at points where \(K<1\), where \(m\) is an non-zero integer with \(m\not=1\). Then \(M\) lies in a totally geodesic \(S^3\).
