    It is a well known fact that generically a closed hyperelliptic Riemann surface of genus greater or equal to 2 has no automorphisms other than the hyperelliptic involution. The author generalizes the above fact to hyperelliptic algebraic curves over any field k, where automorphisms are considered over the algebraic closure of k.
