Robust obstacle reconstruction in an elastic medium (Q6091064): Difference between revisions

This interesting paper is concerned with reconstructing an obstacle in an elastic medium with boundary measurements. The authors consider a stochastic model for the measurements and use it to reconstruct the inclusion by incorporating a priori information about noise, which is the main feature of this work. The proposed reconstruction algorithm is based on a weighted combination of the first two moments of the Kohn-Vogelius criterion. Due to the ill-posed nature of the inverse problem and to avoid the quick diminishing gradient of the objective functions, Nesterov's accelerated gradient descent method is employed for the minimization process. The authors also show the existence of a solution to the problem, conducted by sensitivity analysis, and compare various numerical implementation methods. It is also pointed out that the choice of the regularization parameters is of critical importance for the proposed reconstruction algorithm.
