This paper shows the link between the theory of Hamiltonian spaces related to Dirac geometry and the Hamiltonian quasi-Poisson actions studied by Alekseev and Kosmann-Schwarzbach. Recalls are first given about Dirac geometry and the quasi-Poisson theory is also revisited with a new construction of a Lie algebroid describing quasi-Poisson actions. The authors then relate the two approaches with Manin pairs and prove that the two frameworks lead to isomorphic categories of Hamiltonian spaces. The connection between the viewpoint of Dirac geometry and equivariant differential forms is also stressed. Finally, various examples are studied.
