In the paper a new proof of the uniqueness of the continuous solution to the Theodorsen integral equation of conformal mapping for a smooth starlike contour is given. The proof relies on the reduction of the Theodorsen equation to a nonlinear Riemann-Hilbert problem and uses the uniqueness of the solution to the Dirichlet problem for harmonic functions.
