Matrices over the set of fuzzy numbers were recently considered by \textit{R. Fullér} [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 34, No.3, 347-353 (1990; Zbl 0696.15003)]. This paper brings a new tool for manipulation on fuzzy data. The authors introduce a notion of real valued rank for matrices whose elements are fuzzy numbers and give an iterative algorithm for calculation of this rank.
