The Calderón admissibility condition \(\int_{\mathbb R} |\widehat{\psi} (\xi)|^2 d\xi /|\xi|< \infty\) plays an important role in the study of wavelet transforms, both continuous and discrete. In the first case it is a necessary and sufficient condition for the Calderón reconstruction formula. On the other hand, in case of discrete wavelets, it is a necessary condition to have a good representation, e.g., in the form of a frame. In this paper the authors generalize the second concept to unitary representations \(U\) of groups \(G\) acting on Hilbert spaces. The groups they consider are semidirect products of \({\mathbb R}^n\) and unimodular, locally compact, secound-countable topological groups. The main result states that if \({\mathbb F} = \{ U_{g_i}\psi: i = 1, \ldots \}\) is a frame, with some additional assumptions on \(\{ g_i: i = 1, \ldots \}\), then the representation \(U\) is square-integrable.
