Starting from some nondegenerate skew-symmetric bilinear map \(\Phi: V\times V\to U\), where \(U\) and \(V\) are finite-dimensional real vector spaces, the authors consider the automorphism group consisting of pairs \((g,h)\in \text{Gl}(V)\times \text{Gl}(U)\) satisfying \(\Phi(gv,gv') = h\Phi(v, v')\). Well known is the standard case, \(\dim U = 1\), where, apart from dilatations, this group is nothing but \(\text{Sp}(n,\mathbb{R})\) provided \(\dim V = 2n\). But the general case is also of interest. The investigation is largely motivated by geometry, i.e. the study of Fock space bundles over a sphere with some group acting on the fibers. Their central theorem gives an explicit reduction formula of the so-called ``oscillator representation'' of the generalized symplectic group. The results presented overlap with more general results obtained by \textit{P. Littelmann} [J. Algebra 166, 142-157 (1994; Zbl 0823.20040)].
