The paper concerns the reduction of vibrations of flexible systems. This problem is solved via a control design based on a second-order sliding manifold approach. The control law is built as a solution to a second-order differential equation of the form \[ \varepsilon u'= g(u). \] So, this reduces to a control problem with singular perturbation. The Tikhonov-like techniques allow one to obtain a feedback law with good robustness properties. This very interesting approach is illustrated by numerical simulations on a specific vibration reduction problem.
