This paper deals with the quantization of a scalar field entirely by distributions. This was first suggested by \textit{C. A. Manogue, T. Dray} and \textit{E. Copeland} [Pramana J. Phys. 30, 279-292 (1988)]. A review of the usual Fourier transforms used to obtain the plane wave quantization for Minkowski space is given. The generalizations using distributions is then discussed. This is applied to Rindler space in particular which is an hyperbolic wedge forming a manifold in Minkowski space. The paper is detailed but also indicates the remaining problems; specifically an application to arbitrary globally hyperbolic spacetime.
